Today we voted on 10 bills that involved sales tax exemptions or new sales taxes.
I voted against the most significant of these, House Bills 1190, 1992, 1193, 1194, and 1195. While I am very aware of the fact that the state’s budget is out of balance by over $40 million for the current fiscal year, I was not able to support these bills.

I’m voting no on HB 1192
I am a no vote on HB 1192 because this is a new tax, not a repeal of an existing tax. It concerns levying a 2.9% state sales tax on standardized software.

In general, I think that Colorado citizens are not in a position to pay additional fees or taxes, especially given the current economic conditions. The exception to this would be fees that are supported by user groups that do not want to see their services cut.
