I am extremely disappointed in the demise of this good piece of legislation, and want the readers of this post to know what is actually going on under the golden dome in Denver . . . good policy goes down on an orchestrated party line vote. . . Even after the Insurance Commissioner testified to the merits of the bill. Why? Use your imagination. Why would a member of the committee vote no on the bill after having told me that she supported the bill an hour earlier? Call it what you want. I call it unacceptable, partisan arm-twisting at its worst.

This bill goes to committee on Thursday (2/4/10).  Although this bill has a lot of support from the business community, I don’t have much hope for it – this story says more about why.
Roberts’ measure targets insurance requirements The Durango Herald 2/3/10

The state currently has in place a commission that studies the cost of health insurance coverage mandates. This commission is going to sunset in July of this year.  I think it is very important that legislators have access to unbiased information regarding the costs of new coverage mandates before we have to vote on bills [...]
